One word for you:
BACKUP!
We all know it too well, but not always do we actually live by that knowledge - however, from now on I certainly will...
You see, back in May of 2006 I decided to buy some more storage for all my data as I constantly found myself, trying to free some space from my poor C:\, but just as quickly as I hopelessly deleted my cache, temporary files, uninstalling a couple of applications and basically trying my best, the next day I would once again receive a little annoying notification from Windows, that it was time to free up some more space or else....

So I went out (on the internet of course) and bought myself the Maxtor One Touch II 300GB External Firewire/USB Hard Drive:

This was just about the best buy of the year for me, as I could finally put some of all my precious junk on the external and at the same time backup my stuff in case my stationary would crash! Eventually I pretty much emptied my stationary onto the external and that’s what I’ve been doing ever since - getting close to 75% used hard drive - when something quite awful happened one Tuesday afternoon...
By accident my Maxtor fell from the table and hit the ground - hard! And just then it made a horrible sound and seconds later a burning smell appeared. That’s when I realized what had actually happened to my little friend - it had died in an instant. All my pictures from way back, all my music and movies, all my PSD-design files, my coding and FLA-files, my documents and PDF´s - everything was lost!!!
So what have a learned from this hideous experience? Backup your backup perhaps and remember to sometimes burn a few DVD’s - you won’t regret it! And after all, its just data and life goes on even though it may sometimes seem totally hopeless to a nerd like me! The good thing: I get to start all over and this time, I certainly cleaned up my computer, so now I won’t have to worry about any annoying Windows alerts soon telling me, my hard drive is almost full and I should consider cleaning it up a bit :)

I’ve always loved to watch
a good movie. To be entertained by
an indifferent comedy, be challenged by
a deep psychological thriller or be amazed by
a chocking documentary!
What ever the genre, I’m always open to new things so when me and my girlfriend picked up the Cannes ´05 awards winning blockbuster
"Caché" (Hidden) directed by
Michael Haneke, I was really looking forward to a good drama/thriller/
mystery. After all, it won the most awards that year so!
But...
Selected screenshot from the motion picture. The black guy in this picture has absolutely nothing to do with this movie - at all! Now, I won't go into extreme details on the movie itself or the so called plot, which neither of us ever really figured out. In short it’s about this picture-perfect upper class family of three, living in France. The husband and wife from the above picture - the black guy has no role or importance to this movie by the way! Anyway, their idyllic life is about to be interrupted by some unknown video recordings, which they receive - of themselves! And after about an hour or so of silent recordings of a silent street on a silent night, the movie suddenly takes a turn. Wow!
See the man of the house is obviously hiding something from his dark and cruel past - hence the title - and we finally come to realize, that as a child, he did something to another boy, who have now decided to revenge this. Why it takes him 30 or 40 years without reacting I couldn’t really say, but nevertheless he now wants revenge! What does he do? He records the family on tape (nothing dirty) and them sends those tapes, not only to the family but also to the husbands boss. So now the boss is involved in this cold blooded thriller as well or at least that’s what it said on the cover.
1. Their beloved son suddenly disappears one day, only to return unharmed again and I still don’t know why they included this irrelevant element into the movie - damn damn damn!
2. The deeply involved boss mentions the tape one day, but together they decide to ignore it and destroy the tape, as it could damage his career as a popular television host - damn, what a nice guy. This exiting scene takes about 5½ minutes of the entire 2 hours.
3. They finally track down this guy, who then decides to kill himself - damn what a revenge!
4. The final scene (and trust me, you might as well read on) takes place in front of the sons school. Lots of students running around and I remember sitting there - waiting for something exiting to happen. Actually at this point we were both extremely eager and anxious for some "drama". Apparently, my girlfriend and me both felt the urge and longing by now for an explanation and a thin red line tying it all together in one big masterpiece. You know, after 2 hours of nada, one tends to get it bit anxious and restless, so what happened next was in fact a MAJOR surprise and without doubt the biggest element of surprise in the entire movie:
Rolling titles and movie credits started animating up the screen...THE END!
SCREEN INTERNATIONAL quote: "
One moment in the latter stages of the narrative is so sudden and shocking that it takes the breath away with a force that no scary movie could hope to match".
Well, in that case, I must be the stupidest guy in the universe then! Cause I simply didn’t get it!

Yes, we managed to get 2 tickets for the MTV-show at Rådhuspladsen in Copenhagen - not the actual main show at the Bella Center, but the alternate show running alongside. They promised us (V.I.P.) a heated lounge area with free bar and great view of the stage.
Well, we got the great view of the stage, but with 0 degrees Fahrenheit at an outside lounge area, the queue to the free bar was pretty much empty. Entering the V.I.P. area, we come across two heating canons surrounded by 80 freezing girls and that was it! So it was extremely cold that night, which didn’t exactly invite for a big free bar party - who wants to drink ice cold beer at those inhumane temperatures!? Some guys tried to turn it up a notch - forcing down one chilled Carlsberg after the other, but the party really never got started until it was all over again...
Don’t get me wrong - it was a lot fun to experience this huge television machine and how it all took place. Except for some waiting during the many switches between our stage and the Bella Center’s main stage, the awards was an entertaining happening in Copenhagen.

Recently Apple made a "minor" mistake, by publishing a document online including words that could easily refer to the new Apple iPod w/Touch Screen.
Here is the developers iPodNotesFeatureGuideCB in PDF-format:

Once again, they maybe should´ve done a little more in-depth research on their brand new Zune pay-off! With the text "
Welcome to the social", one can easily figure out what P2P-message, Microsoft wants to send out, but in England this very sentence could just as easily be interpreted otherwise.
In England "the social" is kind of a slang for being unemployed, poor and among those "on the social" - correct me, if I'm mistaken here...
- Check out
their online Zune Zone here.
- Should you somehow already be in possesion of the new Zune (In stores November 14th in the States), you might want to pick up their latest Zune Desktop Theme,
